NarrativePvt Thomas Cowell enlisted in the regiment which was organized in October, 1861, originally commanded by COL Henry C. Lester, of Winona. Ordered to Nashville, Tennessee, in March, 1862. Captured and paroled at Murfreesboro in July, 1862. Ordered to St. Louis, Mo, thence to Minnesota. Engaged in the Indian expedition of 1862 and participated in the battle of Wood Lake in September, 1862. Ordered to Little Rock, Arkansas, in November 1863. Veteranized in January, 1864. Engaged in battle of Fitzhugh's Woods on March 30th, 1864; thence to Duvall's Bluff in October, 1864. Mustered out at Duvall's Bluff on September 2, 1865. Disharged at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. |
