NarrativeEnlisted in 1956; trained at Great Lakes Naval Training Center; duty with the Commander, Taiwan Patrol Force, Far East. Discharged 1958, as a third class petty office. Commissioned in 1965 as an ensign in the Naval Reserve. Went on active duty Jan. 1966 with duty at the Pentagon, Assigned to Syracuse University in September, 1966, as a student; earned a master's degree in photo-journalism September,1967. Assigned to the Commander, Naval Forces, Vietnam, in Saigon. Awarded a Bronze Star, along with the other Vietnam medals and ribbons. Received a regular Navy commission in July 1968. September 1968, assigned to Commandant 11th Naval District, San Diego, and then back to the Pentagon; released from active duty and received a Navy Reserve commission in 1972. Remained in the Navy Reserve until retirement in 1991. |
